This past weekend was the country’s largest beer festival in Denver. The Great American Beer Festival started in 1982 and has continued to grow every year. This year’s fest featured over 4,000 beers from around the country!
Locally, breweries had their best year ever, bringing back to Charlotte two gold medals, a silver, and a bronze.
NoDa Brewing captured a gold medal for Gordgeous pumpkin ale in the Pumpkin/Squash or Pumpkin Spice Beer category. This is NoDa’s third GABF medal. Gordgeous is mega-popular beer that uses over 50 pounds of pumpkin and 42 pounds of brown sugar for each batch.
Wooden Robot Brewing also brought home a gold for Resérve Dorée de Pêche, a sour golden ale aged in French Oak Chardonnay barrels and fermented on local peaches. They won in the Fruited Wood and Barrel Aged Sour Beer Category.
Divine Barrel Brewing received a silver medal for their smoked Grätzer The BIG Lubelski in the Historical Beer category. This is a Polish-style Gratzer beer brewed with 100% oak-smoked wheat malt and Polish Lubelski hops.
Triple C Brewing brought home a bronze medal for Zest-A-Peel in the English-Style Summer Ale Category. Zest-A-Peel is a blonde ale brewed with orange peel clocking in at 5.2% ABV.
